New treatments such as glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors have been shown to have a beneficial effect on metabolic abnormalities such as obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. However, the extent of the benefits as compared to other classes of drugs such as insulin, sulphonylureas, and thiazolidinediones has been questionable.2..."
